Buying or Selling a Home/Land Contracts

Question
We purchased our home on a land contract a little over a year ago. On New Years, our neighborhood was riddled with the sound of gunfire....to the point where my veteran husband commented that "Iraq was quieter." We would very much like to move our family to a safer community. Can you tell me if it's possible to get out of a land contract, how one would go about doing so and what penalties (financial & credit-wise we might face if we proceed?

Hi Stefani,

You should seek the advise of a real estate attorney straight away... as all contracts are binding unless breached.  Once breached there are possible consequences please get advise regarding your specific contract to the state in which you purchased... good luck... thank your husband for his service, I am the mother of a vet and have the upmost respect for all who have served.
