Question
We are looking to sell our house and I would like to know if we would receive any property or school taxes that we paid out of our escrow back when we sell. We just paid our school tax in September and our County tax is due next month. Our house sale would likely happen after we have paid this county tax. Would we get any type of refund from the county or do we get money from the new buyer when they pay the first years tax during closing?  thank you.

Hi Joe, you don't mention where you property is located, but here in Los Angeles county of Calif,you would be prorated on all taxes paid out to the final date that you own the property, and the new owner would get billed the balance.  Check with your local county on what their procedure is, and with your closing agent, as these are typical issues in all closings.
