Question
I'm just starting out in Investing and I have seen all these abandoned homes but some have no numbers on the homes and the ones I do have I'm having trouble finding out who the owners are and hole addresses. How do I find out the addresses and the owners? Washington State.  Jessica

Answer
Hi Jessica,

That sounds exciting.

You need to start with a map and try to figure out the approximate location on the map.  Then go to the local tax assessor's office where they have all the records of the property owners as well as tax maps which show the properties on a map that will look like a survey.  You can compare your map with the tax map to locate the property you need simply by counting houses/lots from one that you can identify.

Let me know if this works for you.

I am able to answer questions related to buying or selling residential real estate in New York. There are many questions buyers and sellers have about the process of buying or selling a home that they are afraid to ask or that might seem too simple to ask. For instance: in a house, why do some doors open in and some doors open out?
