Buying or Selling a Home/Becoming a realtor

Question
I'm thinking of getting my real estate license in Boise, Idaho.
I read were only 20% of realtors do well.
Any tips as to why some realtors grow bigger than others? Does the economy really have that much of an effect on the market?
Thanks,
Greg

Answer
Dear Greg,

It is true that only about 1 in 4 who enter the real estate business are around a year later.  I think many people think it is an easy, fun way to make a living and are unprepared for the total commitment it takes including working 7 days a week in the beginning.  Yes, the economy does affect the market as people tend to make changes in their lives when they have confidence in the future.  You might want to try and make contact with an agent in your locale and see what suggestions they have to ensure your success.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
