Buying or Selling a Home/Bypass buying agent

Question
Mr. Dick Dennis,

I have been looking for a condo to purchase for several weeks
now with a realtor.  On our last excursion out, I e-mailed her a
couple of condos that I was interested in looking at.  We went
out out this past Saturday to look at the listings that I found.  At
the conclusion of our trip, she seemed dissatisfied that I was not
ready to put an offer in on any of the condos.  One of the condos
for sale was listed through a discount brokrage and he has no
listing agent.  I would like to deal directly with the seller without
my realtor.  My question is: Am I legally bound to use my
realtor?

Answer
You may use any Realtor you want, Mike. But be aware if you deal directly with the seller or through his agent, that agent is obligated to protect his seller's interests. And if you deal directly with the seller, you don't know if you are using all the necessary paperwork that is required in your state to buy a house.

There are all kinds of real estate agents. Some are just adequate and some your very good. If you are not satisfied with the one you have been using, then find another who is more of a professional. Ask around.

I do wish you well, Mike.
