Buying or Selling a Home/First Time Buyer -- again?

Question
In 2003, I bought a townhouse as a first time buyer in the State of Maryland.  For personal reasons, I ended up selling the property almost exactly one year later, in 2004.  I moved to NYC and have been renting since the move.  I am slowly getting things in order to buy.

My question is, knowing that legal definitions can be different than "real life" definitions, did I destroy my "first time buyer" status with that one year of ownership, or is it a state-by-state definition?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your great question.

The first time buyer program is a Federal program under Fanniemae.

If you have excellent credit you can get a very good interest rate anyway.

Good luck with your purchase.  If you need help in Westchester County look me up!

I am able to answer questions related to buying or selling residential real estate in New York. There are many questions buyers and sellers have about the process of buying or selling a home that they are afraid to ask or that might seem too simple to ask. For instance: in a house, why do some doors open in and some doors open out?
