Question
I read your answer about liens that carry over with a foreclosure if bought on the courthouse steps in california, Do the same rules apply in Washington state? And were does one read about this?

Thanks

Steve

Answer
In Washington State, Steve, the lien is called a mortgage. The predominant method of foreclosure is judicial. That means the foreclosure is controlled by a judge somewhere. The owner of the property may stay in the house for up to 12 months during the redemption period. And a deficiency judgment is allowed.

To make sure you have all the information, I recommend you contact the foreclosure department at a title company. They will steer you in the right direction.

I wish you well.
