Buying or Selling a Home/Name not on deed

Question
Hi Dick!
Thank you for your help. The last time we refinanced our home, my name was left off of the deed to our house. (I think this was because I was not present). What must I do to get my name put back on the deed/title of our home? Also, in the state of Kansas, can my husband sell our house w/o my consent even if I am not on the deed/title?

Again, thank you very much for your help!!!

Answer
Some states will allow the husband to sell the property without the wife be present. I am not sure about Kansas. I would call a title company or talk to your neighborhood Realtor and find out for sure.

You can have your name put back on the title by having your husband sign a quit-claim deed or a warranty deed (grant deed in some states) from him to him and you. Someone at a title company or escrow company or real estate attorney office could do it for you and minimal cost.

I do wish you well.
