Buying or Selling a Home/People persons?

Question
I've been told that you really need to be a people person and able to present ideas to work in the real estate business. And also that real estate is one of the best money making careers one can get into. Are there any real estate jobs that pay well, but do not require someone to super outgoing and chatty all the time?

Answer
Dear James,

I can only answer this question based on my personal observations.  You don't necessarily have to be 'chatty' but I think it helps to be personable and able to communicate to your clients that you know your business and keep their best interests at the forefront.  I have known agents that have been successful whom I wouldn't describe as outgoing.
I think it is a misconception that agents make loads of money in real estate.  Probably only 10-20% of agents make a good living.  Some eke by and many barely make anything.  It is extremely hard work (in the beginning you should be working 7 days a week) and you aren't paid a salary so I am not aware of any 'jobs' that pay really well without all the other ingredients.  It also helps when you are starting out to have a network of potential clients through business or family or friends.

I hope this helps and good luck.
