Question
Hello Jessica, can you explain to me how the layman can access information (listings, etc.) on the web?  Where can I find a Lis Pendens list?I am a beginner real estate investor and any direction you can point me that would help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank-you.

Answer
Hello Niall;
The best resource for listings in www.realtor.com which lists everything that agents put on the multiple listing service.  It doesn't have the complete listing that the mls member sees but will give you enough information to satisfy you to get more if you are interested.

As for a lis Pendens list, there is nothing available to us (as Realtors)on that.  Since this is a legal action it is filed with the courts and they would have record of those. Check with your local court clerk. As a beginning real estate investor, you might want to take some investment classes and real estate classes (usually offered through your local community colleges.) These can be very helpful in providing you with some of the basics. It might also help with networking.

Best wishes in your new venture.

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
