Question
My name is on the deed with my Mom..currently she is in a nursing facility.  If it comes to having to sell her home she is curious if I am (since my name is on house with her) entitled to part of what she would get from selling the house, or can nursing home go after the entire selling price?

Answer
This sounds like on something an ESTATE attorney can advise, Dennis. You have not said HOW you hold title with your mother. i.e. Joint Tenancy, Tenants in Common, etc. Who lives in it? Did she convey part of the title before or after she went into a nursing home? The government goes after property that was conveyed within six months. You really should see that attorney if you don't want to lose that property. I do wish you well.

With more than 41 years as a real estate broker, I can solve most any problem presented. If I can`t, I do my research. Problems with mortgages, trust deeds, foreclosures, odd ways of conveying titles. Most any good Realtor can answer questions satisfactorily, but I answer questions that most cannot.
