Buying or Selling a Home/Selling when upside down

Question
We have only owned our home 4 years and due to some repairs that are required we can't rent.
We obviuosly made a poor buy as the house would most likely sell due to repairs require for $54-55 and we owe $64 out of the $68 K we paid. My husband has a job offer for 82 K versus the $55 K he makes and we can't move, unless we find an out. Any help or expertise how to pull off a miracle.

Answer
Hi Crystal,

Thank you for the question.

What repairs do you need that are so bad?

The new job pays $27,000 a year more than the current one, so make the move.  One year of salary gain will make up for the loss in selling the house.  In the mean time spiff up the house and yard inexpensively, paint, brighten, clean, clear out clutter, pretty up the yard and get on the market.

Do you need a Realtor to help you? I can refer you to a qualified agent to get you the best possible price and terms.

Let me know what happens.

I am able to answer questions related to buying or selling residential real estate in New York. There are many questions buyers and sellers have about the process of buying or selling a home that they are afraid to ask or that might seem too simple to ask. For instance: in a house, why do some doors open in and some doors open out?
