Buying or Selling a Home/Windows

Question
We are getting ready to sell our home in the next year. It is about 20 years old and are going to replace the windows as they really need it.
Do quality aluminum or vinyl windows help a home sell better or would it be better to just put in builder grade windows? Also is it important to do double hung windows or would single hung windows suffice?
Also any other tips you may have on helping our home to sell would be wonderful.
Thank you,
Tonja

Answer
I would have to know what your house looks like, Tonja, but generally, I would say vinyl, double hung windows are best.

In this kind of market, I strong suggest you improve the condition of your property to be superior to others in your market. DO NOT EXPECT to get your money back for that work. The buyer expects those improvements to be part of the purchase. The buyer rules the market today. They have plenty of houses to choose from. So, make your house stick out for the best price.

Otherwise, it'll sit unsold for a while.

I do wish you well.
