Buying or Selling a Home/Not buying a house...

Question
How do I tell my real estate agent that I no longer want to buy a home? I've done some number crunching, and we really cannot afford a 1500 a month house payment. To be honest, we couldn't even afford 1100, and those houses are not cute! Anyway, she's shown properties to me 3 times now, keeps in constant touch and really has been a big help. What is the "proper" way to let her know that I just can't do this right now?

Answer
Dear Tabitha;
I sense that you feel uncomfortable with taking up too much of her time.  You need to explain it to her just like you just did to me. A nice way to tell her is to send her a thank you note (with your explanation) and some flowers.  Tell her that as soon as you can see your way to affording to buy what you want she will be the first one you will call.

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
