Buying or Selling a Home/Will anyone give me a home loan?

Question
Me and my husband have an IRS tax lien. We are currently paying on it.  It will be paid in full in 4 years.  Is there anyone who will give us a home loan?  We would be first time buyers.  I read that possibly FHA would give us one if we were current on all our payments.  Is this true?

Answer
I believe that is true, Angela. However, it is going to be a little tough. Lenders, especially now with all you read in the papers, etc., making loans is going to be tough to make for borrowers. Just make all your obligations and eventually you will be able to get that loan. Here is something you may not have expected: Somewhere there is a seller who will help you buy his house by helping to finance the purchase. Keep on looking and maybe you can find a Realtor who will help you find that person. I do wish you well.

With more than 41 years as a real estate broker, I can solve most any problem presented. If I can`t, I do my research. Problems with mortgages, trust deeds, foreclosures, odd ways of conveying titles. Most any good Realtor can answer questions satisfactorily, but I answer questions that most cannot. Also, ask about my hard-copy newsletter, The Landed Gentry. It can also be sent to you via PDF.
