Buying or Selling a Home/mobile home title

Question
I bought my mobile 2 yrs. ago, it is in a park and not on a foundation. I paid the house off about 5 months ago and have paid the tax's for 2005. I asked for the title when it was paid for but found out (through county asseser) the house is not in his name. The landlord told me he would take care of it, but when it came time to give me the title again, he said the 2006 tax's had to be paid by me before they would transfer the name to me on the tile. the name on this house is still not in his name, its in the first owners name, Can he sell me this house legally if it isn't in his name as legal owner? To this day after 5 or 6 months of having this house paid for, I do not have a title. Also, now, he tells me I have to move the trailor out of the park within 120 days as he wants my space for other things, can I move this house that I have no title for? I hope you can help as I live on very limited income and can't afford legal help. Thank you for your attention, Kathleen Fuchs

Answer
Very simply tell him, Kathleen, that if you do not get the title to the mobile home within five business days, you are taking this matter to the local district attorney to investigate a case for fraud!

Send that in letter form and by certified mail.

What he apparently did was to optioned the home (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt) from the owner and sold it to you without having title. That is fraud. He should have at least have the owner sign the papers to you. But that didn't happen.

Don't waste any time.

I do wish you well.
