hi..
right now we can afford to purchase an apartment but not a home.So we are thinking of buying one right now as apartments are cheap and sell it to purchase a home later on .We live in Massachusetts state..we are thinking of purchasing an apartment around 300k-350k.What are the resale prospects for an apartment..are they good to go..or a waste of time....can you give me any links that would shed more light on this aspect.how do i know what are the good places to purchase an apartment in MA so that it can be resold again easily...
please help me on this.

Thank you for your concerns regarding your desire to enter the housing market at this time. Your concerns are shared by many...
Although I am a Realtor in the State of California, the cost of housing is similar to Massachusetts, with the same problems for first time home buyers. With interest rates as low as they are, and the market being a buyer’s market, you really should consider buying either an apartment, condominium, or home at this time. Getting into the housing market offers great tax benefits, and an ability to gain appreciation on the property you will own. It will also give you tax free money on your profit upon selling the property 2 years after your purchase. Your financial position maybe better after 2 years and you may want to hold onto your original property, refinance, and use some of the appreciation plus saved cash to purchase your ultimate desire, a home. I would recommend talking with a qualified CPA who understands real estate tax, and will help you prepare for the future. It is money well spent.
To answer your question regarding values, resale potential, and whether this would be good investment for the area in which you want to live, I would recommend contacting the best Realtor in your area who will provide you the history you are inquiring about. A great Realtor who specializes in the neighborhood or city in which you want to buy a property is worth their weight in gold. You do not pay the commission for the service; the seller usually pays for this service, so why not get the best Realtor you can find to represent you. If you have difficulty in locating a Realtor, e-mail me back with your contact information, and I will personally locate you the right Realtor for the job of representing you in your quest for a new home. Your Realtor will have a relationship established with a number of professionals that will advise you in any number of areas pertaining to buying a property including finding you a mortgage broker who will provide you with a great loan.
Although I am a Realtor in the State of California, I do not know the market conditions in Massachusetts and really encourage you to follow through with the suggestion of getting the right professional Realtor in your immediate area who will provide you the information you need to have to make the correct decisions.
I applaud you for your desire to get as much information as you can to prepare yourself with one of the largest financial investments you will make in your life. I encourage you to continue your quest in buying a home, but do continue to gather as much information as you feel you have to in order to make the correct decision.
