Question
Are there any companies that you can think of that provide rental leads, or have people who are interested in renting sign up?

Hi. A company in New York City that I am thinking of working for says that they provide all of their rental agents with listings and clients. Now, I have heard of buyer and seller leads, but how is it possible to get leads from people who are interested in renting an apartment? What companies actually do that?
Answer -
Dear Danielle;
This is entirely possible that the company you want to work for will provide the rental leads to you.  There are many services on the internet that people searching for rentals can register on.  I would also imagine that those who are interested in leasing properties can also register on these same web sites.  I am cntacted all of the time to subscribe to these services.  If the company is a subscriber to a service such as this they can be getting leads on a regular basis.  There are other ways that there are leads generated -- through direct mail and phone calls.  If the company is involved in this type of activity then they will probably charge you a small sum or a higher split but will then be able to recover their costs for performing this service to you.  It sounds good to me!

Answer
Among the many out there, the few that come to mind are www.forrent.com, www.rent.com and www.apartment-renting.net.
I am sure that if you do a google search you will find lots and lots of companies that have websites where people can do a rental search and sign up for more information.  These searches are considered leads and each one is then turned over to someone to follow up on.

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
