Question
what are tax liens and where can i get info about it? do you know a MLS website?

Answer
Hi Terrell,

Thank you for your questions.

Tax liens are legally placed on property by the taxing authority if the owner of the property is behind in payment of the property taxes.  The existence of the tax lien will show up on a title search if the owner is selling the property.  If a bank is involved, the bank will not give a mortgage unless all the liens are paid off at the closing.  You can probably find out everything you want to know by visiting the tax assessor's office in your local town.

You can visit my local MLS website by going to:

Good luck.

I am able to answer questions related to buying or selling residential real estate in New York. There are many questions buyers and sellers have about the process of buying or selling a home that they are afraid to ask or that might seem too simple to ask. For instance: in a house, why do some doors open in and some doors open out?
