Buying or Selling a Home/windows

Question
We are getting ready to sell our home in the next year. It is about 20 years old and are going to replace the windows as they really need it.
Do quality aluminum or vinyl windows help a home sell better or would it be better to just put in builder grade windows? Also is it important to do double hung windows or would single hung windows suffice?
Also any other tips you may have on what we should fix up to help our home to sell would be wonderful.
Thank you,
Tonja

Answer
Hi Tonja;
A 20-yr-old home should have double hung windows unless it is extremely inexpensive.  The price of the home will also govern what kind of windows you should have.  Check other comparable homes in the area and see what kind of windows they have.  That will help to determine what you should put in.  Many people prefer the vinyl windows because of the lower upkeep. However, if most homes have builder grade windows then people will expect these in your home as well.

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
