Buying & Selling Thru Ebay & Other Auctions/Ebay selling
Expert: Suzanne Wells - 2/25/2010
QuestionHello I asked the question how do sellers cope with the
issue of items sometimes selling and sometimes not selling. I find it a bit
stressful sometimes. Does this mean I need to set sales goals ect so I don't feel so stressed and do you u think this
is what other sellers do to deal effectively with this issue. I realise this is a normal problem of selling but as a new seller I just wondered what your ideas are on this issue.
Thank you Sonia
AnswerThere are no guarantees on eBay and all sellers struggle with slow sales periods. There are many factors that affect the sale and number of bidders on your item including:
1) Are you using the correct keywords in your title so that buyers can find the item?
2) Are your pictures clear and free of clutter?
3) Are your shipping costs fair and competitive?
4) Is your description through and does it include all pertinent details?
5) Are you offering a fair and generous return policy?
6) Is your verbiage professional, friendly, and accommodating?
7) Do you offer shipping discounts when multiple items are purchased?
8) Are you offering international shipping?
There are many factors that affect the profit you make on your item including:
1) Are you sourcing your product at the lowest possible price?
2) Are you minimizing your fees by pricing your item at the correct price threshold?
3) Are you taking advantage of Paypal discounts?
4) Are you adding costly listing upgrades that you can do without?
5) Are you relisting items to receive relisting credits?
There are many more factors that could be affecting your sales. You may want to enlist the assistance of an eBay consultant to look at your individual situation.
