QuestionMy preferred Netscape memory has always been 16,535 MB. Is this perhaps too much? Is that why it is failing to open up eBay?-------------------------

Question -
I have Netscape 4.7 on my Mac G4, system 9.1, and I can access websites without problem. Except eBay. Lately I've noticed (during the past few days) that whenever I try to access any eBay site, Netscape quits loading the eBay page fully, and gives the following mesage:"Netscape has unexpectedly quit because an error of type 2 has occurred. You should save your work and restart the computer." This doesn't occur with other websites I try to access. Any clue as to why this is happening? Thanks.
Answer -
Error type 2 is a memory error, or "memory allocation error." I would try the following: Reconfigure the Netscape preferred memory size allocation so that it is set between 10 MB and 16 MB.
Open Netscape, and click File - Get Info (and if necessary, Memory) In the resulting dialog box, you should be able to set the memory options to 10000 and 16000 as the minimum and maximum settings respectively. Click OK and close netscape.
Should you continue to have this problem, please feel free to write again.
AnswerI'm not really sure if this is the problem or not. Without checking your entire system I cannot give you a really expert opinion on that.
Try setting the preferred memory allocation to 10-16 as I suggested before and see if this makes a difference in using Ebay. If not, you may want to contact Netscape about this.
