THANK YOU... BYE.

Answer
You ask several questions at once, I'll try to take them one at a time.

1) Ebay is free.  Free to join, and no monthly charges.  It is free to browse the auctions and ebay stores and even Free to purchase items which you find. The only charges ebay has are for sellers.  (If you do purchase an item, it's good to keep in mind that the seller PAID to advertise the item for Sale on Ebay.)

2) Paypal is free.  It is free to join, and there is no monthly fee.  (In fact, when you DO join, Paypal makes two small deposits into your account for testing and authentication purposes, so you actually make money on the deal!) It is even free to use the service to send money to someone.  If you use Paypal to pay for an item the SELLER is charged for each payment you send.  This is important to keep in mind when making payments.  Always try to make combined payments.

As an example, you buy an item from a seller and send them the payment forgetting the shipping.  If you send a second payment for just the shipping, the Seller pays TWO FEES for your one purchase.  It would be better to allow the seller to refuse the first payment (thus crediting him for the resulting fees) and then you make ONE full payment.

As a seller, you are charged a fee for every payment you receive.  You are charged more for some types of payments than others but you cannot specify which payment types you will or will not accept.  You either accept them all, or none.  Keep this in mind when setting up your auctions on ebay.

3) Increasing sales on Ebay.  The one and only method to increase sales on ebay is to become more sales savvy and to follow the rules as closely as possible.

Example: You cannot advertise your Auctions in Ebay forums, or on Ebay discussion boards.  If you wish to advertise, you CAN however advertise your items on NON-Ebay boards where people may wish to see your ads.

Check the titles and descriptions for accuracy and for non needed words. Listing an item as just "PLATE" versus "FRANKLIN MINT STAR WARS COMMEMORATIVE PLATE 1992 YODA" gives you a better chance of getting interested parties to view your auctions.  Remember that buyers will search for auctions using "Keywords" Anything which may help describe your item AND be a keyword are what you want in the title. Anything which is NOT a standard searchable word should be avoided.  A title with "LOOK" or "WOW" or other words only muddy the view of what you are selling.

In your auctions, always used good clean clear large  pictures. Auctions without pictures rarely sell. If possible, include extra pictures to show side views or special areas of note.   Describe your item with complete sentences and be as honest as possible about the history, condition or problems with the item.  (Even if the item is new, it's good to note that the box may be dented.)

These are the ways most sellers increase their sales.

Expertise

I`ve been involved with Ebay practically since it`s inception. I`ve spent a lot of free time in helping people find the answer to problems as well as selling techniquest on the Ebay system. I`m more than comfortable with the Ebay system, it`s rules and policies and the why`s and wherefores of it`s day to day operation and the operations of both a seller and buyer.

Experience

Been a consistent seller on Ebay since 1997 and have been regarded as a 'source' for information on Ebay itself.
(Under Expertiese, it should be techniques, not techniquest...sorry bout that....)
