Buying a computer system/Purchase recommendation

Question
Hi Bob,

My wife has a small CPA accounting business with three employees (including herself) and three desktop computers all of which need replacement.  They are all different configurations and outdated.  I am looking at the Dell Vostro 200 series and have read your recommendations to Kathleen on the same unit and the Precision.  The difference seems to be that she need one and I need three. My wife does the major work but the last time we bought computers with different capabilities it seemed to be a bad choice.  Please let me know what you think, thanks!

Gary

Answer
The Vostro series is a decent choice, it comes with Dell's business warranties, so thats a benefit for small business owners (saves you on hiring IT personel, as long as you can do most of the minimal stuff on your own), as well as provides a security blanket for the systems. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with buying the Vostro systems, they're likely capable of your needs (I'm guessing databases and bookkeeping software, which most modern systems can do no problem), so truthfully what you're buying here is the business class support and warranties. Based on Dell's excellent performance record in that category, I'd say go for it.

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
