Buying a computer system/printer

Question
Hi
I have a Canon Pixma printer, its about 4 years old.
What is the life span on a printer that gets normal household use?
The picture quality is not good, even after changing ink cartridges and running the maintenance program.
Should I just get a new one or am I not doing something on this one right?

Answer
Hi Bud,

If you have a 4 year old printer, I would say you are WAY behind the power curve.  Not only are the new ones faster and better, but they are also CHEAPER.  You can buy a photo-quality Epson 7400 scanner/printer combo for $60 and order ink cartridges for it for $5 ea.  Need I say more?
