&

&

Answer
The dual core Opterons are likely based on the older K8 design, not the newer Phenom architecture, they are still quite capable though. I would go with the quad-core, based on your needs. As far as differences between the two, I could list naming convention, and multi-package compatability (you can run 2 or 4 Opteron's in a single system, while Phenom is limited to single socket), other than that, there isn't much else to delinate them (meaning performance will be nearly identical). And I would go with an SMPS suitable for your system, if you need 8-pin for eATX, get 8-pin, and so on.

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
