Buying a computer system/PURCHASE

Question
I have the choice of the following: Acer intel pentium dual core, 500g harddrive, 4g ram or Compaq AMD dual core,350g harddrive, 3g ram. They are both $450, I know its obvious what is different between the two but I need to know if the Acer is good enough quality to purchase? Which would you buy?

Answer
I would take the Acer hands down, better hardware and Acer has a very good reputation for both good QC and good customer service, while Compaq is more or less a joke in today's world (its the bottom rung value line of HP, while Acer is the middle and high end rung of Acer (alongside subsidiary Gateway)).
