Buying a computer system/notebook comparison

Question
Which notebook is better, more reliable, and worth the money?

Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop at a price of $559 before tax
or
HP G50-123 NR NoteBook at a price of $500 before tax

Answer
It really depends on the hardware being included with the system, what kind of warranty you get, etc.

Reliability is a very sketchy term to apply to a computer, so I won't even get into discussing it (because 99% of people who talk about reliability usually complain about something they themselves caused, the other 1% will discuss things entirely inapplicable to the other 99% (for example hardware uptime and MTBF figures)).

The HP is cheaper, so assuming its hardware isn't too far behind the Dell, I would take that option, mostly for the sake of saving money. However, if the Dell offers substantially better hardware or much better warranty terms, it would be the clear winner.

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
