Buying a computer system/Computer for a 4 yr old

Question
My 4 yr old daughter is addicted to pbskids.org and nickjr.com . She used my old laptop and now that I have a new computer I don't want her using mine.  What would you do?  She is used to surfing and doing those little games. I looked at e system on  walmart.com and the cheapest dell desktop.  Both were around $300.00 I have a limited budget and little patience for her nagging.

Answer
I'd suggest looking at used computers, in the sub $100 range, honestly a child so small doesn't have much use for a computer, especially something as powerful as is available new today. Check garage sales and similar, as long as it can run WindowsXP or Windows 2000 it should be more than sufficient for at least 5 years in this situation (and then comes the replacing the system every 18-24 months for schooling).

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
