Buying a computer system/audio to CD equipment

Question
A while ago I saw a product in a catalog that looks like an antique record player.  It will play cassettes, LPs and CDs, but it will also burn the tapes and LPs to a CD.  My husband didn't like the antique look thing and wants me to find something more "tech" looking.  I just tried googling, but am having no luck.  Any ideas?

Answer
Doubtful such a device would be of very good quality, and doubtful you'll find more than that specific device with the functionality you've chosen. At least from a single device.

You could go the route of a decent turntable, casette deck, and CD recorder, if you wanted the best quality solution (although personally I'd leave those LPs just as they are). If you wanted to go with a bit less expensive and user friendly solution, a USB turntable or USB casette deck, and computer with disc authoring abilities would be a good option as well.

If you've got any more questions feel free to post a follow-up.

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
