Buying a computer system/Need field pc notebook

Question
I work in the field. I have a 1.57gb CD that I use info off of.
I am looking for some type of pc notebook that will allow me to carry the downloaded CD program into the forest/canyons etc. It must be durable, lightweight, and small enough to fit into a cruisers vest. Is there any such device?
Thanks, Fred

Answer
I'm thinking you mean DVD? CD's are limited to around 750MB of capacity.

Otherwise I'm not sure what you're referencing for your data acquisition - do you work in a situation where you could just copy the data onto a hard-drive to carry around? (I'm just thinking in terms of performance)

All of that aside - I would look at Panasonic's ToughBook series - battle tested reliability and durability is pretty standard, price is the only downside:

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
