Buying a computer system/Business Computer

Question
Hi Robbert:

I am an accountant trying to buy a business desktop computer with capability to hold a lot of client data in PDF as well as tax and accounting softwares.  I like speed, functionality and durability as much as look.  I am not looking for something over the top but I am looking for something good at a good price.  Thanks.

Answer
More or less any system will be suitable for your needs; you don't have demanding processing requirements and unless we're dealing with tens of thousands of files the average 500-1000GB hard-drive should be cavernous for your needs. Look at Dell or HP's Business line, which should include a warranty that will ensure the system is up and running for your needs. You shouldn't have to spend more than ~$750 for the system, including the warranty, a monitor may cost extra (I would suggest dual monitors for additional workspace and productivity, however I realize this requires more space and may add another $200 to the price).

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
