Question
I want to buy a laptop to hook to my tv and stereo and stream video.I basically use a computer to e-mail and web search. maby some gaming but i do not want to spend a lot of extra money to do that. the streaming is the important thing. I am very good at shopping the internet for deals but i do not know what i am looking for.I would appreciate if you would give me a list of how many gigabits of this that and the other thing i need. also if you have any opinions on specific models or brands that would be helpful.
I know this is very basic stuff but it would really help me out.
thanks  gary

Answer
Hi Gary

Thanks for your interesting question to Allexperts. Sorry its been hanging around a bit in the system as I have only just re-activated my account after a a lay-off.

Firstly their are a number of competing laptops out there that fit your requirements, you should take a look at the following manufacturers
Toshiba. Dell . Samsung . Asus

All produce really good reliable laptops with comparable specifications. What you NEED is reliability and a good support base from them. Most of the above have.

As video streaming does not put a massive amount of strain on processors and graphics cards ( unlike gaming for example) then even a higher specced netbook should fulfil this role. Not only do they take up less room ( footprint on desk or knee) but they handle most tasks more than adequately and do not get so hot and heavy on your lap as larger machines running complex internal structures.

Of course whichever model you choose ( I have a preference for Dell ) than video streaming well depend more on internet connection and speed than the actual PC as even budget PCs are capable of streaming good frame-rates these days with ultra modern components.

Shop around, google " 10 best Budget Laptops" , read all the reviews you can and look at the models you like on YOUTUBE as a video is worth 100 times more than a written description.

Post me a follow up if you need any further assistance

Kind regards
Mark
