Buying a computer system/Powewr supplies to desktops

Question
When looking at desktop computers online, some read for home/home office and others read for business/workstations with the workstation desktops indicating a power supply of 280W.  Would this work in my home?  Would the computer have a different type of plug?  Just wondering if I could use it in my home and if so would I need anything additional like a special plug, and adapter or something else for it to work properly without damaging it?

Answer
Wattage should not indicate compatibility beyond the power demands placed on your AC mains. If you are located in the US, if the system lists support for 110VAC it should be compatible with no problems. It should also include proper cables for connecting to AC.

Expertise

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
