Buying a computer system/order to get things

Question
I have an old computer and still use dialup. I want to get both a new computer and subscribe to broadband (probably Comcast). Would it be easier or  better to first get connected to broadband and then get the new computer, or first get the computer and then subscribe?
Thanks

Answer
Depending on the age of your computer, I would probably suggest the new ISP first; it may be the performance upgrade you're looking for independent of your computer hardware. Additionally, depending on your dial-up ISP, there can be some particularly nasty management software to remove; getting your new computer after dropping the dial-up service ensures that software won't be a problem with your new system. Additionally, new computers generally do not include modems, so why bother with installing one only to remove it shortly thereafter?

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
