Buying a computer system/Laptop purchase

Question
A friend of mine from Poland has asked me to help her select a laptop that she
plans to send home to her family. Are there any issues I should be aware of --
power, language, anything-- I should be aware of in choosing a pc laptop that
will operate in Poland?  Many thanks.

Answer
Firstly I'd consider the available power sources in Poland, I don't know much about what kinds of power outlets are available, but i'm guessing that a standard US 110-125 VAC 2 prong plug won't work. Beyond that, you'd need to ensure the system is in the correct language for the recipient, which could include the keyboard being in another language (for example, French Language keyboards differ from English Language keyboards, the same goes for Russian Language keyboards, Spanish Language keyboards, etc).

Beyond that, you shouldn't have a problem in terms of the actual PC hardware's I/O, as it's all going to be the same.

I have nearly two decades of experience in IT, computer repair, and related fields and will attempt to provide the most solid, brand-agnostic advice when it comes time to purchase a new computer, or upgrade an existing machine. I can answer anything from the seemingly basic to the downright complicated - and will do my best to provide this information in a clear and concise manner.

Experience

I have been an enthusiast of PC's for many years, and can answer questions about the purchase/use of a new computer or the purchase, installation, and use of upgrades for existing computers. There probably isn't a whole lot related to the home computer that I haven't seen over the years.
