Buying a computer system/Printers and Paper

Question
Hey, sorry if this is a little off topic but do u know if you can still copy and print good qualty photos using a INK printer and not a LASER one? For example i want to make photo quality copies of a 8x10 headshot i have. I scan it, than put in Photo Quality printing paper. Will this be any good?

Answer
Sorry for the delayed response, I pulled this out of the question pool so I'm not sure if another expert may have answered already or not.

Ideally you want an inkjet printer for photo production, as laser printers simply don't bring the desired resolution or color depth we'd like to the table. While they can produce amazingly nice text and 2D graphics, they are sorely lack at photographic reproduction. Depending on the inkjet you have, it should be capable of producing good to excellent quality images. I would suggest going from the computer to the printer, instead of making copies, but if that isn't possible, copies can also work, assuming we're talking about a decent MFP or decent scanner/printer combination (for example, if you use an MFP from the late 1990s, dont expect miracles, but if you use a modern MFP with quality color inks and output abilities on good quality paper, I wouldn't see any problems unles your source image is bad for scanning).
