Software can be broadly classified into

1. System Software
2. Application Software

Examples of System Software : Operating Systems, Compilers, Decompilers, TSR programs, Virus/Anti virus Programs, Device Drivers etc

Some System Software Programming Languages : C, C++, VC++, Assembly etc.

Examples of Application Software : Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise resource planning, Payroll Application, Health care - Patient Monitoring System etc

Some Application Software Programming Languages : Visual Basic, VB.NET, Foxpro, DBase, Cobol etc

As we observe there are more Application Software Engineers than System Software Engineers in terms of percentages.

As we observe there are more IT Cos in building Application Software than building System Software in terms of percentages.


What are the various reasons/factors attributing to this ?
i.e Learning Curve - Hard/Easy to grasp system/application software concepts,Money, Functional Domains,Programming/Designing Creativity, Research and Development  etc ?
