C/Where to start

Question
Hi Narendra !
I am doing Computer Systems for the very first time in my life, I have never programmed before and now have to learn C. I bought myself a K&R C Programming book, studied it but still I cannot do the exercise assigned to me. I am now hopeless, wondering whether I will ever be able to learn C or not.
My question to you is,
1. Where does one start when he wants to learn this language.
2. How to think like a programmer or how to bring about a solution to the problem faced.

Regards
Edwin

Answer
Don't get frustrated or defeated.
Understanding C is not at all difficult.
May be the book you have chosen to start is not the one for beginers.
Get some simple book (like Schaum's Series), which teaches you by example.

I think this is the only thing you have to do.
And the next thing is to start writing programs and solve the problems. This will give you lot of confidence.
But everything will take some time and you will have to try patiently and consistantly.
