CAD/adding non-standard thread to hole wizard in solidworks

Question
We use a lot of non-standard high pitch count threads for fine thread and differential thread adjusters, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to add these special threads to the list in the feature manager.  Is there a way, or do I continue to "fake it" by modelling the minor diameter and adding a note to call out the thread?

Answer
Hi Scott,

I apologize that I haven't gotten back to you sooner.  I've just recently changed jobs and my email hasn't caught up with me (along with all the other hassles of changing jobs).

Things are so new here that I don't even have SolidWorks installed on my PC yet.

To answer your question though let me make sure I'm understanding your question first ...

You're looking to add a special thread to the feature manager or continue to "fake" the threads ... correct ?  OK ... so how do you mean "add these threads to the feature manager ?"  And are you modeling the actual thread (with all the dimensions, like major & minor diameter, pitch diameter, etc.) ?

If that's the case then I would have to look further into whether or not you can "add" these special threads to your customizeable (sp?) feature library.  Don't forget to use the SolidWorks Help ... there's tons of helpful information there.

But in the meantime, if there's no one else here at AllExperts that can answer your question immediately then I would suggest another website that has a SolidWorks forum ... www.EngTips.com

There's plenty of users who post there that would be able to assist you.

If not, then give me a little more time and I'll play with my system at my home and see if I can come up with an answer.
