Question
hello! i need help making a screw with AutoCAD 2008. my callout is 10-32 UNF,
and i am not sure how to get started.  i know that 10 is the diameter, 32 is the pitch, UN is uniform and C is course. i also understand that i have to start with a 2-D view. how do i make a screw with this information?

Answer
Druidia, in my experience drawing a screw (w/ full detail) is useless. If you're just trying to incorporate this into your design/assembly, i would just create a simple block representation of the screw (sans helix patern). Although what i used to do is have a copy of 'Thomas Register' catalog. Practically contains a cad library of just about any hardware you can imagine. What is cool is that this is a collective catalog of several suppliers products including hardwares, valves, motors, controls, etc. just to name a few.
These cad blocks are to scale & are ready to be inserted in your drawing. Check their website if they still offer CD. Hope this helps!
