Question
Hi J.B.

Currently, my firm uses SW2001 on NT platform and majority of the times, we model our 3d parts for our clients and files range from 10meg and up.  As much as possible i would like to e-mail these files but our system only limits us to 10meg so you see our dilemma.  The only other way is to burn the 3d file to a cd media and send thru fed ex and this could be costly.  Please let us know if you have any suggestions/solution.  Thx in advance.

Sincerely,
Matt

Answer
Hi Matt, one simple solution to that is to create a rectangular profile (must be slightly bigger than your model) from the most far end surface of the model.  Extrude this profile engulfing the entire part rendering into a simple BOX!  With this trick you'll be able to dramatically reduce you're file size and i garauntee it!  Just instruct your client to delete the extruded feature and watch the 3D model materialize.  Please let me know if you have further questions.
