CAD - Line Weight to Drawing Scale Ratio

Expert: <font color=#6b238e>J. </font><font color=#ff7f00>B. </font><font color=#0000ff>Borge</font> - 3/17/2006

Question
J. B. Borge,

Do you know whether the line weights of the various line types are constant, (example: .7mm for solid lines, .5mm for hidden lines, and .35mm for center lines) regardless of the scale of the drawing, or scaled to that of the drawing, (example: .35mm for solid lines, .25mm for hidden lines, and .175mm for center lines, for a drawing that is to plotted to a scale of 2:1)?

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Gary Skinner

Answer
Gary, regardless on the type of 'Plot style table' or pen assignments you're using (ctb for color dependent or stb for named plot style), plotted line types will be scaled down if 'Scale Lineweights' is enabled. This is ideal when plotting in half scales. Otherwise, lineweights will render thick lines & unreadable texts. Hope this helps, let me know!

Regards,
JB
