Question
My CD/DVD drive is: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N (manufactured by LG)
I have XP Home.  I have burned numerous CDs in the past and more recently burned several DVDs.  Today I wanted to burn a CD and found that suddenly my CD is not seen in the drive - i.e. not able to burn the CD because Windows does not appear to recognize the CD in the drive.  However. a DVD is still recognized.  Any ideas?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Steen

Thanks for your question, I will try to help you resolve it, however I need to know one thing first, is the blank CDr a new pack of disks that have been bought recently ?, as some writers do no like certain brands ( even expensive blank branded disks) and much prefer cheap and cheerful disks.
If this brand of disk and disks from the same pack have been burned recently, then try lowering your burn speed process down, so that your system has time to write properly for the disk even though it may be branded with a high speed rating.
It just might be that in the worst case scenario your burner/reader requires to be replaced. However if it is burning DVD media then that is not the cause.
