CD-ROMS & DVD Problems/Dvd sound problems

Question
Dell E1505 Inspiron. When I playback a DvD movie, the sound begins to break up at around 50-55 minutes playing time. It happens on every movie, all of the ones I have purchased or rent. I have no other sound problems. After several chapters, it may clean up, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Answer
Hi Richard,
This sounds like your system running out of resources. Check on your system tray, if you have lots of things running in there, consider closing them down and running them manually when you need them. If you only have 512Mb RAM, I'd suggest upgrading to at least 1024Mb. You should also run defrag daily to maintain your hard drive in a reasonable state.

Experience

Hi, I have been doing this spot here for some years now, and I like to think that I have helped a few people here and there, but due to advancing years and failing health, I'm afraid that I have decided that I can no longer carry on since I can no longer guarantee to be able to answer questions in a reasonable timescale. I should like to thank all the other experts and the users of this site for what has been an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I shall be terminating next Sunday 12th November 2006.
