Question
I need to temporarily store a dining room set in my garage for a couple weeks.  The outdoor temps could range from -5 to +5 C.  Do I risk damaging the wood?
Would it help to cover with blankets or pretreat with a moisturizing oil/wax?

Answer
Hi Donna
Nice to hear from you
As long as the garage is dry there will be no harm done.
I like to put wood blocks under legs of furniture on a concrete unheated floor.
Do not put anything over them as it will hold moisture.
No pre treating necessary either.
If possible when the furniture comes back inside to a heated room, have the heat set low for a couple of hours so the furniture warms gradually. It won't get quite so shocked LOL.
Great question

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
