Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/webbing replacement

Question
We have 4 dining room chairs that were re webbed 20 years ago.  They have become squeaky because of old glue so we completely took them apart and will correct that.  We will purchase new foam but was wondering about the webbing.  It is jute with red stripes and was not sagging, came off easily and looks to be in good shape.  Could we reuse it or should we just buy new?  How long does webbing typically last?
Thanks,
Joyce

Answer
Hi,

The webbing you have is BFM webbing, 100% jute.  It has a life expectancy well up to 15+ years if in a dry environment.  If I had the seats apart I would replace it anyway.  If you do, I suggest buying BFM webbing from an upholstery supplier with the black strip which is even stronger.

I hope this information is what you were looking for.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.
