Question
QUESTION: Sir
After finishing dinning room table, with watco wipe on varnish Would you use any polish on it ?
Thanks rfarris4@cinci.rr.com

ANSWER: Hi Ray,

Unless Watco has come out with a brand new finish that I'm not familiar with, what you are referring to is a Watco finishing oil which is an oil and varnish composition.  Due to the varnish in the formula this finish will completely harden if given propre time.  It should be applied in several coats with 12-24 hours drying time between each application.  The oil will soak down into the layers of the wood where it will bond and then harden.  I would allow at least one week curing time after the finishing has been completed and then it will be safe to polish. Thanks for the question and have a good day.

Answer
Hi again Ray,  The best polish to use is no polish.  Just wipe the dust with a damp cloth and use some elbow grease and a clean cotton rag to buff it out.  Any polish will build up over time and eventually need to be removed.  That being said, I personally like pure bees wax or Gaurdsman furniture polish.  Have a good day and thanks for your question.
