Question
What is the minimum temperature for applying a polyurethanee finish

Answer
Hi John
Nice to hear from you.
I avoid using poly in temperatures below 65 degrees F.
Poly must "flow" after its applied and it will not do that in cold temperatures.
Keep the poly indoors to stay warm and not in a cold garage.
Funny enough, it can't be too warm either.
I had that experience this past winter while applying a poly finish in a living room with a wood burning fireplace.
It was quite hot in the room and the poly dried too fast and did not flow properly. So theres obviously a maximum temp too.
It works both ways.
I always avoid poly in high humidity too.
So thats the scoop.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
