Question
Our seven month old boxer-bulldog mix dog has chewed the paneling on either side of the door going from our den into our garage.  He has actually taken small chunks out of the wood.  Ours is an older home, circa 1960, with beautiful pine paneling and we certainly hope it can be repaired.  Please help!!

Answer
Hi gaygreene,

Unfortunately I can not see the damage to your pine paneling but I fear yours may not be an easy fix.  It is probably best that you wait until your pup is completely past his chewing phase before even bothering to attempt a repair.  There are probably two ways to go on this problem. The first would be to replace the panels and creatively use stain to match the color of the old and new as much as possible.  The second might be the addition of some wainscoting or other type  trim to attempt to visually cover the damage.  I believe that you would never be happy if you tried to simply patch the damage with the use of putty or replacing a small section of paneling.  It would always stand out.  Good Luck with your puppy and your repair and thanks for the question
